Email segmentation based on user actions

With Team Coaching Studio

Team Coaching Studio runs online courses and workshops that have served over 350 students. Back when the pandemic hit, they ran into a problem:

“When the lockdown hit, we grew exponentially. Increasing from 3 to 12 courses, plus adding webinars every fortnight and growing a community - the amount that we were doing was huge. But we were using less people to run them.

We needed our systems to communicate with each other to enable us to leverage their benefits”

Georgina Woudstra - Founder of Team Coaching Studio

We landed on ActiveCampaign because of its ability to handle sales and marketing in one place, its powerful tagging and automation, and its attractive pricing.

I set up ActiveCampaign and merged and migrated their databases from Mailchimp and Arlo (their workshop management platform). Then I went to work setting up integrations that would capture user data into ActiveCampaign:

  • Capturing new leads and subscribers from their various website signup forms

  • Capturing new enrollments to their workshops or online courses

  • Capturing registrants to their Zoom webinars

  • Capturing new members from their online community

With these integrations in place, ActiveCampaign became the one source of truth for TCS when it came to their customers. And because all of this data was sitting in their email marketing platform, it enabled them to start personalizing their communications to each customer:

The results? In one case, a targeted email campaign to prospects who had shown interest in their courses previously (and which took < 15 minutes to build in ActiveCampaign) resulted in ~£6k in course enrollments.

“It's allowed the company to start growing. When we take on extra staff, it's now for marketing and growing the company - not just to do these menial admin tasks.”

Melissa Luck - Director of Operations at Team Coaching Studio
